Characters Preparations are underway for a charity performance. The talented director Pfauenfeder admits to the prompter that he wrote the play himself, a long time before. Stobelkopf is meanwhile fetching the play from the bookbinder’s. He stops off at the inn, where the innkeeper’s dog tears it to pieces. Strobelkopf, in panic, decides to tear a few scenes out of each of a number of other plays, and pretend that this is the play. The director finds out, but since the production is about to begin, and the theatre is full, he puts together a medley out of the scenes from other plays. Text: lost |
